have beat the odds to become leaders in education, business

and service to their community.

Join an inspiring one-of-a-kind community event framed with local artists and musicians who beat the odds. National and regional leaders who have transcended monumental circumstances will be the centerpiece of the evening.

Speaker-survivors were chosen to share their unique and individual stories that will resonate, touch and inspire attendees to see their own odds differently while encouraging personal contribution to the area’s at-risk youth population. Speakers have transcended unprecedented odds and are each in their own way living proof of what the human spirit is truly capable of. 

The greater Sacramento region has a large at-risk young- adult demographic . With statistics against them, and a lack of support and resources to prepare them for life, it’s a tough, uphill battle to beat the odds. As a community, we can make that journey easier with our collective resources and talents. Statistics show that youth at risk, specifically those aging out of foster care programs are statistically inclined towards early homelessness, crime, imprisonment and teen parenthood. Beating the Odds demonstrates that these children can also be future leaders and influencers – shaping California’s tomorrow. 

Homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, physical abuse and addiction . . . you name it . . . these speakers have been touched by the darkest horrors anyone could imagine to come out the other side stronger, and committed contributors that champion those in similar situations.

Their stories will resonate, touch and inspire all of us to look at our own lives differently and will encourage all of us to reach out when the opportunities present themselves.
